Elgin, Illinois is a big part of my life.
I lived there for over a decade during my formative years from 1991 – 2003
These shots were taken just over twenty years ago while I was still a photography student at Elgin Community College. These images are not truly representative of Elgin but they reflect some of the spots that bring great memories of my life at that time.
Photography was of no interest to me at the beginning. My dad had purchased a used Canon AE-1 camera with a bunch of lenses (that I still have) at a garage sale. The camera had been collecting dust in our basement for several years until a friend of mine asked if he could borrow it to take a photography class.
I saw some of the shots he took and I decided to take the same class next semester as part of my elective classes.
